Qatar’s Ashghal to build 40 multi-level road interchanges
The interchanges planned by Qatar’s Public Works Authority will be spread over eight expressway projects
Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will build about 40 multi-level interchanges within the next four years as part of major road projects, it was reported.
The interchanges, all in the western region of the country, will be spread over eight different expressway projects currently under different stages of execution, said Nasser al-Kuwari, head of the Engineering Information Program (Rayyan) at Ashghal, quoted in Gulf Times.
The 15-km Dukhan Highway Central dual carriageway, slated for completion in 2017, will have three multi-level interchanges. The road is expected to considerably improve traffic congestion between Dukhan and central Doha.
Meanwhile, the 6.5km Dukhan Highway East, billed for completion in 2018, will have six multi-level interchanges.
The two phases of the 103-km long Orbital Truck route and highway, which will have seven lanes in either direction, will eliminate truck traffic from the city areas. This project will feature 13 multi-level interchanges, it was reported.
