Dubai’s Nakheel awards $32.6mn Al Furjan infrastructure contract
Target & Jima Construction Company wins infrastructure contract for phase two of Nakheel’s Al Furjan community in Dubai.
Nakheel has awarded a $32.6 million contract to Target & Jima Construction Company, the Dubai-based developer said in a statement.
The contract is for infrastructure work in phase two of its Al Furjan community, Nakheel said. It covers the construction of 16km of roads along with the preparation of about 500 third-party villa plots in the community.
Work is scheduled to begin by the end of October, with a planned completion timeline of 16 months.
Nakheel is also constructing a new, 10,000 square metre retail and recreation hub at the Al Furjan community, which is located between Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, close to the Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai.
The centre – complete with retail, dining, and recreation facilities – is due to open in March 2016. Over 70 per cent of retail space has already been booked, Nakheel said.
