Pre-empting the resurgence of its Middle East operations, Shaikhani Contracting is looking to recruit engineers, technical and non-technical staff, according to managing director Rizwan Shaikhani.
Shaikhani Contracting says the new decade has started well and that opportunities for contractors still exist. The company is now planning to roll out a “strategic, region-wide plan” of growth and expansion across the region.
Shaikhani said: “This welcome development regarding the faster interval of payment for dues owed to contractors bodes well for our plans to grow our operations in the UAE, and we are very excited to witness the resumption of construction activities and become one of the most active contractors working on projects across the country."
These include the development of private villas in Al Khawaneej, Dubai. The company has also said there are “excellent opportunities” in Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
Despite delays and cancellations of US $500 billions worth of projects since 2008, recent projections show particular strength in the residential sector with more than 26,000 apartments and villas due for hand over this year.
