The Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources has deployed a fleet of JCB machines as it looks to develop crucial waterways in the country.

Supplied by JCB dealer, Al-Ghodwa for Trading Agencies, the ministry recently completed a third order taking the total machines acquired to 108 machines.

The machines are working in the Tigris and Euphrates region of Iraq, an area that has suffered from water shortages in the past. The ministry itself has lobbied the UN to intervene over access to the critical waterways with Syria, Turkey and Iran.

The latest order was for the supply of 38 units JCB JS200 LC Excavators. The new excavators are working mainly on developing new irrigation channels. They are also cleaning and maintaining irrigation and drainage systems while clearing the sediments and the stone coating that comes from the two rivers.

The ministry’s first order included 50 JCB JS220 Long Reach Excavators while a second order for 20 JCB 456ZX Wheel Loaders followed shortly afterwards.

According to Al-Ghodwa, all three orders were supplied with a complete package of spare parts.
