A Filipino crane operator has been killed in Dubai after he struck high voltage power line.
The accident occurred on Sunday in the Al Lisaili area on the outskirts of the city when the operator failed to spot the power line as he was scaling to height, a police official told local newspaper Gulf News.
Major General Engineer Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, director of the Traffic Department, said striking the wires sparked a number of fires across the crane.
Civil Defense vehicles were alerted to the fire but the operator succumbed to severe burns while attempting to put out the fires using a fire extinguisher, said Al Zafein.
