Volvo Construction Equipment has launched its new EC75D compact excavator in the Middle East and Africa markets, introducing a 7t compact machine with digging capacity, stability, serviceability and operator comfort that the company claims are all class-leading.

According to a statement from Volvo CE, the EC75D has an undercarriage that is wider and longer than those of its competitors, ensuring greater stability and lifting capacity, together with high ground clearance and an extensive working range. “Thanks to its larger size, the EC75D can be used with a bigger bucket than similar machines in the same class, helping to increase productivity,” said the statement.

It added that the boom and arm are made from high strength steel for maximum durability and uptime, and are fixed to the superstructure at the side of the cab for improved stability and visibility of the work area. The high tractive force of the Volvo EC75D allows it to climb steep gradients with ease and travel over rough terrain. If specified with an optional dozer blade, backfilling and landscaping are also made easy. The balance between the torque and swing speed permits fast and precise placement of the attachment, even when working on a slope.

The cab has a large expanse of glass, offering operators a commanding view of the work area. Volvo adds that precise controls promote a high degree of safety on the jobsite while for more safety, an alarm sounds to warn bystanders when the machine moves.

The EC75D cab also encourages operator productivity with a spacious and comfortable environment, easy-to-access controls, climate control system and vibration-and-noise isolation. A large I-ECU monitor clearly presents machine information for greater control. The operator and service technician can make quick visual and diagnostic checks, increasing uptime and productivity further.

Servicing and maintenance are made simple on the Volvo EC75D with features such as grouped service points and simple access to the engine compartment via the engine hood, which can be opened fully. The front step provides easy access to the main hydraulic check points. Tools and a grease gun can be stored inside a large toolbox located on the right front side of the machine while the hydraulic oil level can be seen from inside the cab.

The EC75D is powered by a Volvo D2.6D engine putting out 58hp of power, which gives it 38kN of tear out force and 56kN of breakout force. The maximum standard reach is 6,340mm, while the standard dump height and digging depth are 5,070mm and 3,800mm respectively.
