Yellow Door Energy begins construction of solar plant for FPI

The solar plant will cover the rooftops of four warehouses totalling an area of 18,000 sqm

Dubai-based sustainable energy provider, Yellow Door Energy has announced that it has began the construction of a 2 MWp solar plant for Future Pipe Industries (FPI). The solar plant is expected to generate 3100 Mwh of clean energy in its first year of operation, equivalent to reducing 1,300 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.

Under the terms of the contract, Yellow Door Energy is responsible for investing in, designing, building, commissioning, operating and maintaining the solar plant for the duration of the lease.

According to the statement from Yellow Door Energy, the solar plant will cover the rooftops of four warehouses totalling 18,000 sqm. and supply over 40 per cent of the factory’s annual energy consumption. Construction in underway and the plant is expected to be operational by the summer of 2020, it stated.

Jeremy Crane, CEO and co-founder of Yellow Door Energy, said that they are proud to support FPI’s sustainability endeavour through the development of a solar plant.

“Our solar lease with Yellow Door Energy at our DIC facility is another step on our sustainability journey and we will be able to significantly reduce our energy costs while simultaneously lowering our carbon footprint,” he stated.

Yellow Door Energy stated that solar leasing is gaining popularity among industrial building owners who aspire to reduce energy costs without any upfront investment or operational risk, while focusing on their core business and benefitting from clean energy.
