The Abu Dhabi government has signed nine MoUs with Singaporean authorities to enable the development of joint projects to facilitate knowledge sharing in the power and water sectors. Additionally, the agreement outlines joint research activities and a transfer of technology.

As per the terms of the agreement, Singaporean authorities will also work with the Abu Dhabi government to set-up a world class development centre in the emirate.

The signing ceremony was attended by Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, chairman of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Energy (DoE), S Iswaran, minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore and Masagos Zulkifli, minister of the Environment and Water Resources of Singapore. Other senior officials from both countries were also in attendance.

“The energy sector is constantly evolving, transforming and experiencing the rapid pace of change it faces today as the “New Normal”. The interaction between digital technologies and economic forces is catalysing the fast change. In line with our Abu Dhabi Plan 2030, we are pleased to sign these MoUs to upskill and augment our sector employees to prepare them for the evolving industry landscape. This envisages creating a workforce empowered with critical technical skill development, knowledge and capacity building,” explained Al Marar.

Mohammed bin Jarsh Al Falasi, under-secretary of the department said he hoped the signing between the DoE, as well as its sector companies, and Singapore would open new vistas in the power and water sector. He was also keen to see the agreement act as a catalyst in business transformation, through the exchange of innovative ideas, business models and the sharing of leading practices, to foster a new generation of globally competitive power and water sector.
