Shaw Energy named consultant for Duqm refinery
US consultancy to handle project management for the 230,000bpd facility
US-based consultancy Shaw Energy and Chemicals, part of the Shaw Group, has been named by Oman’s Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company (DRPIC)as the project management consultant.
In the first phase, the planned facility will have a refining capacity of 230,000 barrels per day, while the second stage will see the construction of a petrochemical complex.
DRPIC has also appointed the CEO of Oman Oil Company (OOC), Ahmed bin Salim Al Wahaibi as chairmanof the new refinery, while Khadem bin Abdullah Al Qubaisi, managing director of Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), was appointed as vice-chairman.
Shaw Energy worked on the Umm Shaif Gas Injection Project in Abu Dhabi, which helped the field increase production by an average of 50,000 barrels per day.
