Riyadh Metro sees more than 3m safe work hours in 2016

Parsons says latest safety figures achieved less than a year after surpassing two million safe work hours

The Riyadh Metro project completed more than three million safe work hours in 2016, the leader of the joint venture working on the massive infrastructure project has announced.

Parsons, the global engineering, construction, technical and management services consultancy that is leading the joint venture, said that the latest safety figures were achieved less than a year after surpassing two million safe work hours, without a single lost-time incident.

Known as Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC), the joint venture also consists of French engineering firms Egis and Systra. RMTC is the engineer of record for two Riyadh Metro contracts, while the project itself is commissioned by Arriyadh Development Authority.

Parsons is playing a lead role in the health, safety and environment (HSE) management, a statement released by Parsons said.

“Safety is one of Parsons’ six core values, and we are firmly committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment in all of our offices and on each of our projects,” said Gary Adams, Parsons Group President.

“I am very proud of the RMTC project team for achieving such a significant safety milestone; their shared commitment and combined efforts have seen the application of stringent HSE policies and standards enforced on site for all key stakeholders.”
