Aconex appointed to $1.9 billion South Shamkha infrastructure development
4000 hectare project due for completion 2014
Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, has appointed Aconex to provide an online collaboration for project partners on the US$1.9 billion South Shamkha infrastructure development project.
All project stakeholders – including Musanada, PMC, supervisory consultants and contractors – will have access to the project information in order to access, distribute, track and archive the information in real time using a central, secure platform. The contract adds to Aconex’s portfolio of US$260 billion worth of projects across 70 countries, including Abu Dhabi’s $40 billion Yas Island, Dubai Metro and Dubai Sports City.
“The delivery of South Shamkha is expected to take three years and will involve hundreds of participants, therefore Musanada is extremely diligent in picking the right partner who will be able to deliver on time and on budget the world’s best services to the Abu Dhabi Government,” said Musanada building projects director, Mona Al Qubaisi.
The Shamkha project will cover 4000 hectares, with housing for a population of 125,000. The project will cover 402km of road works, 430km of sewerage networks including pumping stations, and 460km of potable water networks and is due for completion in 2014.
“Aconex was chosen for their exceptional track record in information-related challenges, and we are certain their expertise will dramatically affect the response time of the project team and the mega project itself,” Al Qubaisi added.
